And yet the majority of journalists covering AI lack the technical grounding, governance literacy, and investigative frameworks to do so with the rigour the story demands.

AI Is Moving Faster Than the Institutions
The institutions built to regulate artificial intelligence are working to keep pace with a technology that evolves faster than policy can be written.
Report with Authority
When AI systems fail, bias spreads, or harm goes unnoticed, journalists are the first line of accountability. The fellowship equips fellows to understand AI ethics, safety risks, and global governance failures - and to report on AI harm with the confidence and authority the subject demands.
Investigate with Rigor
AI harm often hides inside systems that are opaque by design. The fellowship trains fellows to question the claims companies make, audit how models are built and deployed, and follow the evidence through technical complexity. Fellows learn to separate genuine risk from hype and to ground every story in verifiable fact.
Hold Power Accountable
The decisions that shape AI are made by a small number of companies, governments, and institutions. The fellowship prepares fellows to scrutinize those decisions, expose the gaps between promise and practice, and give the public the reporting it needs to demand better. Accountability journalism is how AI governance stays honest.
Three Integrated Components. Eleven Weeks.
The ERAI Fellowship curriculum is built around three components that work together across all 11 weeks to move each fellow from conceptual understanding to applied practice to real-world output.
Live Online Seminars
Eight expert-led sessions, 90 minutes each. Non-technical, journalism-first understanding of how AI systems work, where risks arise, and how institutions shape the deployment and regulation of these technologies.
