I am a journalist, researcher, editor, and governance communications specialist with more than 25 years of experience in media, public policy, and strategic communications. My work brings together journalism, governance, technology, gender, and climate change, with a focus on using research and clear storytelling to support informed public debate and practical social change.
With the International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT), I have researched and documented violations against women journalists across Africa, including technology-facilitated gender-based violence and digital safety challenges. I have also explored meaningful connectivity by strengthening collaboration between community networks and community media in Kenya.
I have trained and mentored journalists in fact-checking, debunking disinformation, election reporting, human rights and responsible reporting on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
I have served in communications and intergovernmental relations roles within county government. I also spent nearly two decades at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, where I helped pioneer live parliamentary broadcast coverage and held editorial leadership positions.
I am a postgraduate researcher in climate reporting and have published work on the implications of the European Green Deal for Africa. As the founder of the digital platform Integrity Alliance Kenya, I am committed to promoting climate action, innovation, governance, and public dialogue grounded in evidence.
Through the ERAI Fellowship, I hope to deepen my understanding of ethical and responsible AI, build my confidence in engaging with AI governance, and bring grounded African perspectives to global conversations on how technology is shaping journalism, human rights, and social impact.
