14 JULY 2026The ERAI Fellowship welcomes its inaugural cohort, bringing together senior journalists from more than twelve countries to report on AI harm, governance, and accountability. Selected from a competitive global pool, these fellows already lead coverage at major newsrooms and now gain the tools to investigate artificial intelligence with the depth the subject demands. Over eleven weeks, the cohort will move from expert-led seminars to hands-on labs to a publishable capstone project, building the technical fluency and reporting confidence that set AI-literate journalists apart. Their work spans the beats that define this decade: algorithmic bias, synthetic media, safety risks, and the policy decisions shaping how AI reaches the public. Cohort 1 marks the start of a growing global network. As ERAI expands its reach and its future cohorts, these fellows form the foundation of a journalism community equipped to hold AI power to account, wherever the story leads.
